Your Request for Extension of Part 26 Exemption Date - Documentation of Our Discussion on July 8, 2020
- Peg, I wanted to document our telephone discussions we had with your staff, on July 8, 2020, in connection with your request for extension of the previously approved Part 26 exemption (DTE Request: NRC 20-0045, ADAMS Accession No. 20188A339).
We discussed the following items during this phone call:
Your request dated July 6, 2020 for extension of the previously approved date did not include information pertaining to the cumulative fatigue effects that may be encountered in extension period. Specifically, you were requested to see item 16 of the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about COVID-19 Part 26 Work Hour Control Exemption, posted on the NRC website. Item 16 of the FAQs relates to the process for obtaining extension of the initial exemption like yours.
The NRC staff from the Human Factors group explained to your staff why the information related to the cumulative fatigue was necessary for the NRC staff to review your request for extension.
Your staff understood the needed information and you agreed to supplement your application by providing the required information on COB July 9, 2020.
Regarding your request to obtain approval by July 10, you were explained that in light of the additional information required from you, this date is not practical. However, if the supplementary information provided by you was sufficient, the NRC staff will try to provide approval by July 14, 2020, which is the date the current approval expires.
List of Attendees:
DTE : Margret Offerle, Derek Corrin, and Alicia Davis NRC: Craig Erlanger, Chris Miller, Gregory Suber, Christian Cowdrey, David Desaulniers, Ed Miller, Robert Kuntz, and Surinder Arora
