NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION Advisory Committee on the Medical Uses of Isotopes: Meeting Notice AGENCY: U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission ACTION: Notice of Meeting.

SUMMARY

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) will convene a meeting of the Advisory Committee on the Medical Uses of Isotopes (ACMUI) on September 21-22, 2020. A sample of agenda items to be discussed during the public session includes: a discussion of the ACMUIs review and analysis of medical events from fiscal year 2019; a discussion of the ACMUIs review and analysis of non-medical events from fiscal year 2019; a discussion on the U.S. Food and Drug Administrations regulatory process for the development of drugs and devices; an update on the NRCs Phase 2 revision of Regulatory Guide 8.39, Release of Patients Administered Radioactive Material; and an update on the activities of the NRCs Medical Radiation Safety Team. The agenda is subject to change. Purpose:

Discuss issues related to 10 CFR Part 35 Medical Use of Byproduct Material.

Date and Time for Open Sessions: September 21, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

and September 22, 2020, from 12:15 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST).

EST. This session will be closed to conduct the ACMUIs required annual training.

Public Participation: The meeting will be held as a webinar using the WebEx meeting platform. Any member of the public who wishes to participate in any open sessions of this meeting should register in advance of the meeting by visiting the link and entering the event number(s) provided above. Upon successful registration, a confirmation e-mail will be generated providing the telephone bridge line and a link to join the webinar on the day of the meeting. Members of the public should also monitor the NRCs Public Meeting Schedule at https://www.nrc.gov/pmns/mtg for any meeting updates. Conduct of the Meeting Darlene F. Metter, M.D. will chair the meeting. Dr. Metter will conduct the meeting in a

3 manner that will facilitate the orderly conduct of business. The following procedures apply to public participation in the meeting:

1. Persons who wish to provide a written statement should submit an electronic copy to Ms. Jamerson using the contact information listed above. All submittals must be received by the close of business on September 15, 2020, three business days before the meeting, and must pertain to the topics on the agenda for the meeting.
2. Questions and comments from members of the public will be permitted during the meeting, at the discretion of the Chairman.
3. The draft transcript and meeting summary will be available on ACMUIs Web site https://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/doc-collections/acmui/meetings/2020.html on or about November 6, 2020.
4. Persons who require special services, such as those for the hearing impaired, should notify Ms. Jamerson of their planned participation.

This meeting will be held in accordance with the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended (primarily Section 161a); the Federal Advisory Committee Act (5 U.S.C. App);

and the Commissions regulations in title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 7.
