July 10, 2020 Rufino Ayala, Chair Nuclear Power Engineering Committee Subcommittee 6 Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers PO BOX 1592 Corvallis, OR 97339

SUBJECT:

AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE TO THE INSTITUTE OF ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS ENGINEERS NUCLEAR POWER ENGINEERING COMMITTEE

Dear Mr. Ayala:

The NRC supports Mr. Richard Stattel, as an authorized NRC representative on the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Nuclear Power Engineering Committee (NPEC) to represent NPEC Subcommittee 6. Mr. Stattel is a senior electronics engineer and is responsible for performance of technical reviews to support safety evaluations of digital system upgrades for operating nuclear power plants. There is currently no NRC representative for NPEC Subcommittee 6 in this position.

In accordance with the Office of Management and Budget Circular No. A-119, "Federal Participation in the Development and Use of Voluntary Consensus Standards and in Conformity Assessment Activities," January 26, 2016, the participation on a committee of an NRC-authorized representative does not connote agency agreement with, or endorsement of, decisions reached by the committee, or of standards approved and published as a result of the committees efforts. Agency representatives participating on consensus standards developing groups will, to the extent possible, ascertain the views of the agency on matters of interest and will express views that are consistent with established agency views.

Correspondence should be addressed to:

U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission ATTN.: Richard Stattel Mail Stop: O9-D2 Washington, D.C. 20555 Telephone: 301-415-8472 E-mail: richard.stattel@nrc.gov Thank you very much for providing NRC with the opportunity to participate in the work of the Nuclear Power Engineering Committee.

Sincerely,

/RA/

Louise Lund, NRC Standards Executive Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research
