[External_Sender] Nuclear waste disposal: U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission extends public comment period for the Draft Environmental Impact Statement on Holtec's CISF.

Nuclear Regulatory Commission, NRC. Nuclear waste disposal in New Mexico.

E-mail: Holtec-CISFEIS @ nrc .gov, I am against storing nuclear waste at the Lea County, New Mexico site because it is not safe to do so and it is not economical.

The cost to store nuclear waste is not worth the benefit of electricity which is produced with nuclear power. There should be a transition to renewable energy sources, including wind, solar, ocean and geothermal, as soon as possible.

Taxpayers should not be subsidizing nuclear energy by having to pay for disposal of nuclear waste.

Nuclear energy production creates waste that is very expensive to store for very long periods of time, for many centuries, and is unsafe to store. Nuclear energy production should be stopped for those reasons.

You should also take steps as soon as possible to clean up unsafe nuclear waste sites at Moab, Utah, near the Colorado River, which supplies water to many millions of people, at Hanford, Washington and at the Bikini Atoll nuclear waste site.
