RE: ATTN: Cooper EP Biennial Exercise Exemption Request Vanessa (Tim) -

After your confirming with THD management and FEMA Region VII, please send me an email acknowledging that the proposed date of May 25-26, 2021, is acceptable for rescheduling the biennial exercise so that I have something to reference in NRCs evaluation to reflect coordination with FEMA (email will be placed in ADAMS). If possible, please provide to me by COB next Wednesday, June 24, or advise if you need additional time.

I will keep you posted if we receive any further relief requests regarding rescheduling of 2020 biennial exercises.

Thanks, Joe.

ATTN: Cooper EP Biennial Exercise Exemption Request Vanessa (Tim) / Bruce -

Today, the Project Manager for the Cooper Nuclear Station received the attached temporary exemption request for the biennial exercise frequency from the Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD, licensee) for their CY 2020 biennial exercise. Their original biennial exercise date was May 5-6,2020, and was to include participation by the States in the Ingestion Pathway portion of the exercise that is required by 10 CFR 50, Appendix E, Section IV.F.2.d. Per the attached letter, a tentative date of May 25-26, 2021, was agreed upon based on an April 22,2020, a meeting with the Nebraska Emergency Management Agency, Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, Iowa Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, Missouri Department of Health, Missouri State Emergency Management Agency, and Federal Emergency Management Agency Region VII. NPPD also indicated that the proposed reschedule date was discussed with local counties.

We are in the process of beginning our review of this licensing action and will be in touch with you to coordinate this review.

Please note that the attached letter is in the process of being declared in our Agencywide Documents Access and Management System and has not yet been declared publicly available. As such, please control distribution within FEMA until I can provide you the ADAMS Accession Number and verify that it has been declared publicly available.
