SUBJECT:

COMANCHE PEAK STEAM ELECTRIC STATION DOCKET NOS. 50-445 AND 50-446 HELB DETECTION AND HITIGATION SDAR: CP-88-20 (SUPPLEMENTAL REPORT)

Gentlemen:

On January 28, 1988, we notified you via our final report logged TXX-88157 of a deficiency involving instrumentation utilized in the detection and mitigation for several high energy line breaks located outside containment.

The purpose of this supplemental re) ort is to u)date the status of the corrective action implementation scledule for t11s issue.

Due to material constraints and engineering scheduling considerations, the estimated completion dates previously stated in TXX-88157 are no longer achievable.

Engineering activities for providing a redundant HELB pressure switch and alarm circuit, and for reconnecting the power source of one of two Auxiliary Steam System HELB pressure switch trains from a diverse AC source, cre still in )rogress.

En ineering and construction activities for these actions have )een reschedu ed for completion by October 1,1988.

Very truly yours, W. G. Counsil I
