i t Introduction A steam generator tube inservice inspection of Steam Generator #1 was performed in accordance with the surveillance requirements of Technical Specification 3.4.10 during October of 1985. Pursuant to Technical Specification 6.9.6, this special report is submitted as required by Technical Specification 4.4.10.5.b.

he Yankee Plant has four vertical U-tube steam generators, each steam generator containing 1620 tubes. The tubes are 3/4 inch 0.D., type 304 stainless steel

- with a .072 inch average wall thickness.

Results he tube inspection was perfomed in accordance with Technical Specification 4.4.10.4.a.8. One tube was determined to be beyond the acceptanced criteria for

. r.axirmrn allowable imperfection depth of 40% and was therefore plugge . %e defective tube, L-23, was found to have a wall-thickness penetration of 47%

which resulted in an inspection sar:ple classification of category C-2 as specified in section 4.4.10.2.c of Technical Specifications. Since the first sample was comprised of 100% of the accessible tubes, a second sampling was not required.

Of the 1568 operable tubes 1492, or 95.15%, were inspected. The remainder were either blocked by template plugs or inaccessible due to the fixture's position. Table II su=arizes and updates the inspection results and status of steam generator #1.

l' he location and percent of wall thickness for each imperfection as well as the record of eddy current inspection for each tube is documented in Attachment I.

Attachment II identifies the location of tubes plugged previous to and as a result of the 1985 inspection.
