Response to Request for Additional Information/Hiscellaneous Amendments and Search Requirements.

Gentlemen:

Reference (b) contained our proposed revisions to the Haine Yankee Security Plan to demonstrate, subject to NRC aaproval, how Maine Yankee would comply with the miscellaneous safeguards amendments and search requirements (51FR27817).

Attachment A to this letter provides our response to each item in your request 17ir additional information, Reference (c).

The proposed changes to our Security Plan are presented in Attachment B.

Attachment B contains Safeguards Information of a type as described in 10 CFR 73.21, which should be protected against unauthorized disclosure.

This letter, plus attachments, supersedes our original response.

A Haine Yankee representative has discussed certain aspects of the request for additional information with Mr. Gene McPeek of your staff to obtain clarification on the requirements for backup power supplies for certain 1,ecurity equipment. As a result of this clarification, we believe the proposed hardware backfits meet the intent of the applicable NRC regulations.

Raine Yankee will implement the changes to our search requirements and the other proposed modifications within 60 days and 180 days, respectively, after O

NRC approval of the proposed Security Plan revisions.
