The Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WP!) campus police received bomb threats against the Higgins Laboratory (not the reactor facility) by telephone at 7:15 p.m. on

September 13, 1983, and at 8:59 p.m. on September 20, 1938.

In both instances, the Laboratory building was evecuated, the local fire and police department were called and a I

j search was conducted with nothing unusual found. Neither the WPI research reactor, 1

whi-h is located in the Washburn Laboratory and is separated from the Higgins Laboratory by distance and several other structures, nor radioactive material, which is stored in the l

The licensee is continuing its investigation into the origin of the threats and believes that they are reltted to a i

j labor dispute involving the plant service custodians, which was settled on September 20.

police at about 1:30 p.m., September 21, 1988 and followed up by the Region I.
