Three Mile Island Nuclear Station, Unit 2 (TMI-2)

Operating License No. DPR-73 Docket No. 50-320 Resignation of THI-2 Director The purpose of this letter is to provide formal notification of the resignation of Mr. F. R. Standerfer as Vice President ar.d Director of TMI-2.

As noted in our previous, verbal notification, Mr. Standerfer's resignation will be effective in early October. GPU Nuclear has named Mr. M. B. Roche, the current Vice President and Director of Radiolo(,jcal and Environmental Controls, GPU Nuclear, t ' succeed Mr. Standerfer.

Mr. Roche has been employed by the GPU System since 1974 ard has progressed through various levels of increasing management responsibility to his present position as an of ficer of GPU Nuclear.

In addition, Mr. Roche also has served as Vice President of the Saxton Nuclear Experimental Corporation since February 1984 and was responsible for all site activities at the currently mothballed Saxton nuclear power reactor. During his service with GPU Nuclear, Mr. Roche has clearly dertonstrated his qualifications and ability to assume management of the THI-2 cleanup program in an effective manner. An assessment of Mr. Roche's qualifications in the context of TMI-2 Technical Specification reauirements is attached.

ASSESSE NT OF M. B. ROCHE'S QUALIFICATIONS FOR VICE PRESIDENT AND DIRECTOR, TMI-2 (PLANT MANAGER) PER ANSI N18.1 i

l Reauirement - Technical Specification 6.3 reauires each member of the unit staff to meet or exceed the minimum aualifications of ANSI N18.1 of 1971.

l ANSI N18.1 - 1971 Reauirement Experience includes:
