Docket Nos. 70-7001 and 70-7002 Response to Request for AdditionalInformation - Compliance Plan Issue 3, Action 9, ASME Code Interpretation and Assessment Results,(TAC Nos. L32093 and L32095)
Dear Dr. Paperiello:
i The purpose of this letter is to provide a response to the United States Nuclear Regulatory I
l Commission's request (TAC Nos. L32093 and L32095) for additional information on Compliance i
Plan Issue 3, Action 9, ASME Code Interpretation and Assessment Results. The request for j
j additional information was provided to the United States Enrichment Corporation (USEC) in j
Reference 1 and identified additional information required by the NRC to review USEC's submittal t
(Reference 2) related to Compliance Plan Issue 3, Action 9.
Reference I requests submittal of Safety Analysis Report Update (SARUP) supporting analyses referenced in our previous responses (References 2 and 3) related to Compliance Plan Issue 3, Action f
9, and in SARUP sections 4.3.2.2.2 and 4.3.2.2.14. The requested analyses and the SARUP section to which these analyses apply are noted below. A copy of these analyses is provided in Enclosure 1.

Reference 1 also requests identification of any differences in the PORTS and PGDP supporting analyses pertaining to Compliance Plan Issue 3, Action 9. The calculational methodology presented in the enclosed analyses are identical for PORTS and PGDP. Differences in the analyses exist due to GDP design differences which affect input parameters, such as piping line sizes and steam inlet pressures, used in the analyses.
If you have any questions related to this subject, please contact Mark Smith at (301) 564-3244.
There are no new conunitments contained in this submittal.
