Dear Mr. Chairman:
Public Law 97-415, enacted on January 4,1985, amended Section 189 of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954 to authorize the Nuclear Regulatory Comission to issue and rake imediately effective any amendment to an operating license upon a determination by the Ccmission that such amendment involves no significant horards consideration, notwithstandirg the pendency 'oefore the Comissior, of a request for a hearing.
In addition, the legislation requires the Commission to periodically (but not less frequently than once every thirty days) publish notice of any araendments issued, or proposed to be issued, under the new authority above.
Enclosed for your information is a copy of the Comission's Biweekly Notice of Applications and Amendments to Operating Licenses involving no significant hazards considerations, which was published in the Federa_1 Register on August 24, 1988.
