The purpose of this letter is to provide the NRC a summary of the activities at TMI-2 during the d
3 quarter of1998.
i During August 1998 an unscheduled tour of the TMI-2 Reactor Building was given to t' e NRC b7p Chairman during a visit of the TMI site. No changes of the general conditions inside the TMI-2 Reactor Building were notec %e next inspection of the TMI-2 Reactor Building is scheduled for December 1998.
d Routine radiological surveys of the Auxiliary and Fuel Handling Buildings during the 3 quarter of 1998 did not identify any significant adverse radiological trends.
The Reactor Vessel temperature monitoring system reported the Reactor Vessel temperatures ranged from 71.0 F on July 1,1998 to 79.9 F on September 9,1998. The Reactor Building temperature ranged from 74.4 F on July 1,1998 to 81.6 F on September 3 and 4,1998. The
. largest temperature difference between the Reactor Building and the Reactor Vessel occurred on July 8,1998, when the Reactor Building temperature was 3.6 F greater than the Reactor Vessel temperature.

Significant work activities daring the 3"' quarter of 1998 included completion of modifications on PDMS ventilation systems which upgraded chart recorders and flow transmitters, and completion of modifications to simplify and consolidate the PDMS Radiation Monitoring Panel.
Dismantlement of non-radiological equipment continued in the Turbine Building with the removal

ofinactive electrical components and the removal of unused piping.
