Thank you for your letter of September 9,1998. It was indeed a pleasure to meet you and learn of your Committee's efforts to develop a plan for the reorganization of nuclear safety and radiation protection in France. As you suggest in your letter, I believe an exchange of views on the French and U.S. approaches would be mutually beneficial.
It was unfortunate that our schedules could not accommodate a meeting during my recent visit to Paris, but I agree that we should arrange a meeting during my next visit.
