e October 23, 1998 CHAIRMAN Ing. Miroslav Lipar Chairman Nuclear Regulatory Authority of the Slovak Republic Bajkalska 27 P.O. Box 24 820 07 Bratislava
Dear Chairman Lipar:
Thank you very much for your letter of September 10,1998.. We are pleased to hear that the very capable and respected regulatory body thal Chairman Misak created and you have strengthened is now being recognized by other regulatory bodies in the area. Helping establish a strong regional infrastructure whereby Central and East European regulatory bodies are equipped with the tools to assist one another has been a U.S. Government policy objective from the inception of our nuclear safety assistance program.
I recall an extraordinary and very productive first visit to the Slovak Republic in 1997.
However, given the heavy volume c,f work and travel scheduled in the coming year, I do not see a window of opportanity for a second visit to Slovakia. Should my plans change I would be honored to contact you to schedule a visit to your culturally diverse and beautiful country.
I appreciate your kind comments about the contributions made by members of our International Programs staff to the professional growth of your agency and it appears mutually beneficial to continue such cooperation. It will be with great interest that I follow your continued success tackling the technical, economical and political challenges facing the Slovak Nuclear Regulatory
/
Authority in the years ahead.
