IE BULLETIN 83 RESPONSE It has been brought to our attention that a final response to IE Bulletin 83-07, "Apparently Fraudulent Products Sold by Ray Miller Inc," is still outstanding. NRC letter dated March 30, 1984 noted that Consumers Power Company response of March 1, 1984 had failed to mention items supplied by Ray Miller Inc., through RECO Industries, Illinois Water Treatment, and Eechtel Power Corporation. RECO noted in a letter to Illinois Water Treatment Company that the items particular to the Palisades Plant were three Radwaste Demineralizcr Tanks (T88, T89A and T89B). RECO also noted their documentation showed the tanks to be of 304 stainless steel, and were not as likely to be misrepresented as higher grades of stainless.
The tanks in question are non-Q-listed and therefore the question of material misrepresentation has no bearing on the safety of plant operation. Consumers Power Company therefore considers this issue closed.
