l This letter is in reference to docket No. 71-9180 and your

request for additional information dated 21 July 1988.

We are not manufacturing or distributing the Ai 500-SU overpack.
This container was originally used by Automation Industrics as an overpack for the 500-SU source changer in order to reduce surface radiation IcVels.
khen Tech / ops purchased Automation Industrics they chose to modify the 500-SU by adding shiciding plates and reducing the capacity to reduce surface radiation levels and this was reficcted in Tech / ops application dated 12 August 1985 for the 9006 Type B certificato.
This amandraent removed the need for the overpack.
As a result the AI 500-SU-OP has not been distributed by Tech / ops or Amersham.
However, we would like to keep the certificate valid in caso there are customers presently using it as an o/crpack, or if we decide to use it with other containers.
There have boon no changes in the operating or maintenance procedures or the acceptance tests for this package, therefore, there are no revisions to this application.
