HH HTEXCH Reactor power was reduced to 52%

to remove the main feed pumps from service, one at a time, to check the main feed pump. turbine conden-sers for tube leaks. One leaking tube was plugged in the east main feed pump turbine condenser.

Re-actor power was returned to 80% on 851208.

1 of 2 MONTHLY OPERATING ACTIVITIES - DECEMBER, 1985 HIGHLIGHTS:

The reporting period began with the reactor at 80.5% rated thermal power.

On 12-07-85, reactor power was reduced to 52% to remove the main feed pumps from service -for condenser tube leak checks.

Reactor power was returned to E0.5% on 12-08-85.

On.12-23-85, reactor power was reduced to 56% to remove the main feed pumps from service for condenser cleaning.

Reactor power was returned to 80.5% on 12-24-85.

Engineered Safety Features actuations occurred as follows:

12-05-85, Containment isolation due to high radiation alarm.

12-11-85, Containment isolation due to high radiation alarm.

The reporting period ended with the reactor at 81% of rated thermal power.

Gross electrical generation for the month of December was 651,340 MWH.

SUMMARY

12-05-85 At 2109, an Engineered Safety Features actuation, containment isolation, occurred due to a high alarm on containment radiation monitor VRS-2201.

12-07-85 At 0945, a reactor power decrease began to remove the East Main Feed Pump from service to check for condenser tube leaks.

Reactor power reached 52% at 1215.

12-08-85 At 0025, a reactor power increase began.

At 0439, the reactor power increase was stopped at 79%

for chemistry.

At, 0642, reactor power was increased to 80.5%.
