A routine safety inspection of your emergency preparedness program was
conducted by Mr. C. Amato of this office on August 26, 1988 at the Rhode Island
Nuclear Science Research Reactor located on the Narragansett Campus of Rhode
Island State University, Narragansett, Rhode Island. Discussions of our
findings were held by Mr. Amato with you and other members of your staff at the
conclusion of the inspection.
Areas examined during this inspection are described in 'he NRC Region I
inspection report which is enclosed. Within these areas, the inspection
consisted of selective examination of procedures and representative records,
interviews with personnel and observations made by the inspector.
Within the scope of this inspection, no violations in the area of emergency
preparedness were identified. Nine unresolved items were identified, two in
emergency preparedness and seven in non-emergency preparedness areas.
No reply to this letter is required. Your cooperation with us in this matter
is appreciated.
