SUBJECT: NRC INSPECTION REPORT 50-298/98-06
Dear Mr. Horn-

From August 23 through October 3,1998, an inspection was conducted at your Cooper Nuclear
Station reactor facility. The results of this inspection were discussed with your staff. The
enclosed report presents the scope and results of that inspection.
During the 6-week period covered by the inspection, conduct of activities at the Cooper Nuclear
)
facility was generally characterized by safety-conscious operations, good radiological controls,
and appropriate maintenance.

In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter and its
enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR),
