SUBJECT: NRC INSPECTION REPORT 50-458/98-14
Dear Mr. Edington:
From September 18 - October 2,1998, a routine, announced inspection was conducted at your
River Bend Station reactor facility. The enclosed report presents the scope and results of that
inspection.
One performance weakness was identified during the simulator walkthroughs as discussed in
Section P4. The weakness involved the failure of one crew to properly assess plant conditions,
which led to declaration of a general emergency instead of a site area emergency. Based on
our review of your corrective actions, we have determined that your actions were adequate.

Therefore, no further information is required regarding this issue.
