NRC ENGINEERING TEAM INSPECTION at the PEACH BOTTOM ATOMIC
' POWER STATION
Dear Mr. Rainey:
LAn on-site team inspection of your engineering activity at Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station, using Inspection Procedures IP37001,IP40500, and IP93809,is planned over the period November 16,1998 through December 4,1998. The team effort will be in the area of 50.59 evaluations, identification and resolution of problems, engineering involvement i
with operations and maintenance, and a vertical slice inspection of engineering input that.
supports two plant safety systems. The overall objective of the inspection is to determine the capability of the engineering function to support safe and reliable plant operation. The team willinclude up to five inspectors, and a team leader.-
To effectively prepare for the inspection, we request that you provide the documents listed in the attachment to NRC during the week of November 2-6, during which time the team leader will visit PBAPS to carry the documents back to the regional office for review'during preparation week (November 9-13) prior to the site inspection. The schedule of the inspection has been discussed with Douglas Keene,'who is leading the PBAPS effort to assist our inspectors.
