Gentlemen:
You informed us that we should not rely solely on manufacturer's calculations to conclude proper operation of our PORY block valves (Question 2, Reference a). We agreed to test the Unit i valves during our spring 1988 refueling outage and to infr you of the results, Unit i PORY block valves operated properly during a test under full design differential pressure. We employed MOVATS, Incorporated to assist in this determination. MOVATS is known for its expertise in motor-operated valve testing.
We will notify you of the results of Unit 2 testing, currently scheduled fo the spring 1989 refueling outage, following that outage.
Should you have any further questions regarding this matter, we will be pleased to discuss them with you.
