Ladies & Gentlemen:
SUBJECT:
Hope Creek Generating Station (H.C.)
Facility Operating License: NPF-57, Docket No. 50-354 Request for Change to Technical Specifications (TS)
LCR H98-06: " Safety Limit Minimum Critical Power Ratio (SLMPR)"
August 25, 1998 On August 25, 1998, PSE&G submitted LCR H98-06 to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).
The request proposes to change HC Technical Specification (TS) 2.1.2,
" Thermal Power, High Pressure and High Flow" and the Bases for TS 2.1,
" Safety Limits" to implement an appropriately revised SLMCPR for the upcoming HC Cycle 9.
The licensee reported that the proposed changes were also based on revised proprietary analyses performed and justification issued in 1996 by General Electric, the developer of the Boiling Water Nuclear Reactor technology used at HC.
General Electric had already calculated revised site-specific SLMCPRs for Cycle 7 and 8 using NRC-approved methods.
j p The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJ DEP)
Bureau of Nuclear Engineering (BNE) has reviewed the change request in accordance with the requirements of 10 CFR 50.91(b) and has no Comments.
