NRC PARTICIPATION AT CDAC MEETINGS
Dear Ms. Moore:
As the NRC transitions its inspection responsibilities at the Haddam Neck Site (HNS) from an on-site resident inspector to region-based inspectors, we also want to confirm our future involvement with the Community Decommissioning Advisory Committee (CDAC).
It is my understanding based on recent telephone discussions between Hugh Curley, Chairman of CDAC, and William Raymond, Senior Resident inspector at the HNS for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) that you have accepted our proposal to provide quarterly updatas to CDAC, starting with the November 1998 meeting. We will plan to provide these updates throughout the decommissioning \\ dismantlement of the HNS; however, on occasion we may need to adjust that schedule based on availability of NRC staff.
l The NRC spokesperson would prepare a 20 minute presentation to address the following areas j
of interest: (1) an overview of the NRC conclusions from inspections conducted the previous j
quarter; (2) to the extent possible, a schedule of NRC inspections and their primary focus for the i
upcoming quarter, subject to change based on actual decommissioning activities; and (3) an i
overview of other NRC actions, such as completed licensing actions or completed enforcement actions.
