Washington, DC 20555 DOCKET 50-155 - LICENSE DPR BIG ROCK POINT PLANT - NOTICE OF VIOLATION AND PROPOSED IMPOSITION OF CIVIL PENALTY RESPONSE EXTENSION REQUEST Your September 22, 1988, Notice of Violation and Proposed Imposition of Civil Penalty, for alleged failure to comply with the EEQ requirements of 10 CFR 50.49 states that the NRC will consider extending the response time for good cause shown. Consumers Power Company requests an extension of the response time for this Notice until December 1, 1988.
We have initiated actions to prepare the required responses to the Notice. It is our objective to complete and submit the responses within the 30 day time period allotted. However, preparation of the responses may require outside assistance, which is likely to take longer than the 30 days allotted.
As documented in various correspondence items and NRC inspections subsequent to the September 1986 NRC incpection, corrective actions have been *.plemented which place Big Rock Point in compliance with environmental equipment qualifi-cation regulations. Therefore, extension of the response time does not pose undue or additional risk to the health and safety of the public.
In order to allow both of our organizations to rer.olve these concerns thoroughly and efficiently, timely action on this extension request would be greatly appreciated.
