COMANCHE PEAK STEAM ELECTRIC STATION (CPSES)
DOCKET N05. 50-445 AND 50-446 DESIGN BASIS TORNA00 (OBT) ANALYSIS FOR SAFETY-RELATED EQUIPMENT SDAR: CP-87-064 (SUPPLEMENTAL REPORT)
Gentlemen:
On January 20, 1988, TU Electric letter logged TXX-88086 notified you of a deficiency involving the pressure relieving capacity of the tornado venting devices on Units 1 and 2.
Specifically, the existing Design Basis Tornado (DBT) analysis does not include sufficient documentation to show conclusively that safety-related equipment is qualified for the differential pressures (negative pressure transient) expected during the DBT.
The latest report on this issue was logged TXX-88618, dated August 10, 1988.
The purpose of this report is to revise the corrective action implementation schedule for this issue.
The DBT equipment evaluation for Unit 1 (corrective action item 2 of TXX-88086) has been rescheduled for completion by November 30, 1988. A schedule for any Unit I rework which may result from that evaluation will be provided at that time.
The OBT equipment evaluation for Unit 2 and any modifications will be completed prior to fuel load for Unit 2.
Very truly yours, W. G. Counsil By: h d a b y-J4hn W. Beck-Vice President, Nuclear Engineering CBC/mlh c-Mr. R. D. Martin, Region IV Resident Inspectors CPSES (3) 8810030246 880930 M22 PDR ADOCK 05000445 S
