5923 The Chairman of the House Committee on Interstate and Foreign Commerce has requested the Commission's views on H.R.

5923, a bill to require the Secretary of Energy or the Secretary of

,j Defense to notify State legislatures whenever construction of a radioactive waste storage facility in a State is proposed, and to permit a State legislature to disapprove of the use of any site within the jurisdiction of the State for radioactive waste storage.

I would appreciate comments-especially from ELD, NMSS and State Programs - by January 4, 1980.
