Dear Dr. Grace:
This Special Report is submitted pursuant to the requirements of Technical Specifications Section 3.3.3.1, "Radiation Monitoring Instrumentation."
Reactor building area high range radiation monitor, RM-G18, was declared inoperable at 1530 hours0.0177 days <br />0.425 hours <br />0.00253 weeks <br />5.82165e-4 months <br /> on April 22, 1988, when erratic readings caused the Licensee to question the reliability of the instrumentation.
Compensatory action was established in accordance with Action Statement (b) of Techreical Specifications Section 3.3.3.1.
Investigation of the instrumentation revealed faulty connections on the high voltage and signal cables. New coaxial connectors were installed, and RM-G18-was returned to service at 1730 hours0.02 days <br />0.481 hours <br />0.00286 weeks <br />6.58265e-4 months <br /> on April 26, 1988.
