Under Section C, paragraph C l.2., contract objectives, the first sentence is modified as follows:

"The primary objective of this 3 3 month.

Under paragraph C.l.3., Scope of Work, add the following Task 8:

Task 8 The purpose of this task is to support the benchmark process by incorporating human reliability into the quantitative evaluation of hardware reliability and accident sequences.

The results will provide NBC with information on the sequences in probab-ilistic risk studies performed by different analysis teams. The effort described herein supports the NRC analysis, applying fault tree / event tree computer codes, such as IRRAS, in the integration of human reliability with hardware reliabilities.

The contractor shall:

1.

Transfer information f rom the past phases of the benchmark to the NRC analysis team; 2.

Develop strategies for analysis following the benchmark problem definition; 3.

Support and comment on the NRC analyses during review meetings; 4.

Evaluate findings to help identify research needs focusing on: (a) PRA computer tools, (b) basic approaches for combining human and hardware reliability in risk studies, (c) providing exampics and applicati.ons, and (d) methods for more explic-itly characterizing the uncertainties in the quantification process; and 5.

Provide inputs to the summary reports.

This task shall be completed by December 31, 1988.

This task shall involve three 3-day trips from San Diego, CA to Washington, DC and one S-day trip from Washington, DC to Ispra, Italy.

Under paragraph C.l.3, the first sentence under Task 5 - Prepare Final Report _is modified to read:

"The purpose of this task is to prepare a final report of Tasks 1-4,6,7,and_S, results.

Under paragraph C.2, Meetines and Travel, add the following:

" C.2.5.

During Task 8, 1 trip shall be scheduled to Ispro, Italy, not to exceed 5 days and 3 trips from San Diego, CA to Washington, DC not to exceed 3 days each."

Paragraph F.1.3, Final Report, add the following:

"The copy of the final report submitted to EPRI shal.1 not include the results of tasks 7 and S of this contract."

8.

Paragraph F. 3, Ouration of Contract Period, is modified to read as follows:

"This contract shall become effective on April 1, 1986 and shall continue for a 31 month peri'od of performance, until December 31, 1988."

Under Section G - Contract Administration Data, paragraph G.1, Considoration -

Estimated Cost, Fixed Fee and Obligation, is modified to read as follows:

"1.

It is estimated that the total cost for full performance of this contract will be $264.170.00, of which the sum of $243,607.00 represents the estin-ated reimbursable costs and of which 6 represents the fixed fee.

The total estimated' cost of Task 8 is $48,527.00, of which the sum of $44,933.00 represents the estimated reimbursable costs and of whicl6 represents the fixed fee.

This task shall be funded entirely by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Co mmission. "

Paragraph G.1.2.

is revised to read as follows:

"Total funds currently available for payment and obligated to this contract are $251,100.00. The obligated funds are provided as follows:

NRC - $181,800.00 EPRI -$ 69,300.00 11.

For Tasks 7 and 8, the following changes to the basic contract are made:

a.

The note at the bottom of page 9 is deleted.

b.

The EPRI Project Officer named in paragraph G.5 is deleted, c.

The following Section H paragraphs are deleted: 11.10, 11.11. 11.12, H.13, !!.14,

11.15, 11.16, li.17.
