Response to Generic Letter 88-03 Gentlemen:

Reference (b) requested, pursuant to 10 CFR 50.54(f), written confirmation that procedures are in place to monitor fluid conditior.s 'n the auxiliary feedwater system (AFH) and to recognize and restore conditions indicative of steam binding in the AFH.

As we affirmed in Reference (c), in response to the NRC Bulletin 85-01 on l this subject, Maine Yankee has procedures in place to monitor fluid conditions

! in the AFH and for restoring the operation of AFH pumps if steam binding occurred. These controlled procedures are periodically reviewed, maintained and updated as riecessary.
