CONFIRMATION OF PROPOSED AMENDMENT STATUS This letter confirms the discussion of January 23, 1986 between Matt Coleman and John Dosa of my staff. Based upon our understanding of the paper presented by you at the 1985 International Conference on Reduced Enrichment for Research and Test Reactors in Petten, the Netherlands, we have determined that the license application for conversion of the RPI critical facility to LEU fuel can be accomplished by an amendment request.

We will process the request as an amendment with :ignificant hazards consideration and it will be prenoticed in the Fgeral Register.
