The Commission
- was briefed by the staff on the status of its reactor operator requalification examination program.
l The Commission requested a status briefing after the five pilot programs have been completed and the staff has conducted a l
public meeting to discuss the experiences gained from the pilot programs.

The Commission requested an options paper on the following initiatives 1.
The staff's review and assessment of alternatives to further improve the operator requalification examination program.
The alternatives need not be limited to the present regulations and should include the FAA testing concept, requalifying the site in lieu of each operator, and other concepts which could reduce the number of i
individual operator examinations administered by the NRC.
