Additional Information - Bulletin No. 88-02 Steam Generator Tubes N_RC Docket Nos. 50-295 and 50-304 Gentlemen:
This letter confirms an April 20, 1988 conference call between NRR and CECO personnel regarding NRC Bulletin No. 88-02.
Our response to the two questions that were raised during that conversation are presented below:
(1)
Question: At what frequency would Zion continue to monitor steam generator leakage, once the leak has stabilized.
Response: Once a steam generator tube leak was determined to have stabilized, Zion would continue to sample at 4-hour intervals for at least the following 24 hours2.777778e-4 days <br />0.00667 hours <br />3.968254e-5 weeks <br />9.132e-6 months <br />.
(2)
Question: How would Zion respond to steam generator tube leakage that is greater than equal to 200GFD?
Response
If the rate of increase is 25GPD or greater when leakage reaches 200 GFD, then Zion will inmediately begin a power reduction to less than 50'4 power within one hour.
The submittal of Zion's proposal for an enhanced leak monitoring program will be forthcoming, following the evaluation of the radiation monitor / leak rate correlation study.
