G. C. Andognini to Frank J. Miraglia, Jr. letter dated February 25, 1988, CR/TSC HABITABILITY, NUREG 0737 ITEM III.D.3.4

Dear Sirs:

In the referenceo letter the District committed to perform a wind tunnel study to verify tile acce,9tabilf tv of the current outside air intake locations for the Control Room /TSC HVAC s,'st%s.

This study was to verify correctness of the X/Q value in use for the CR/tsC dose evaluation. Any modifications required, based on the results of this study, were to be implemented prior to return to power from our nex7. refueling outage.

Members of your staff have recently indicated that wind tunnel testing may not be the preferred method to verify acceptablility.

They also indicated that a new method was expected to be identified in the near future which would address the development of Control Room X/Qs.

Based on the concern with the results achieved through wind tunnel testing and the likelihood of other analysis methods being available in the near future, the District is not currently pursuing wind tunnel testing.

Further action is on hold pending transmittal of infonnation related to an improved analysis method.
