Docket No. 50-352 Attachment to Nonthly operating Report for August 1988 Limerick Generating Station Unit 1 August 1 through August 31, 1988 I.

Narrative Stumary of Ooeratina Eroeriences Limerick Unit 1 began the month at 87% of rated thermal power.

On August 2, during the performance of the D14 Diesel Gener-ator monthly operability ST, the output breaker tripped (on reverse power relay actuation) when attempting to close onto the D14 safeguard bus.

The reverse power relay activated because the generator and bus voltages were slightly mis-matched.

No additional problems were experienced with the ST after the breaker was reclosed.

On August 15, RCIC was blocked and declared inoperable to allow Maintenance to pe.? form preventative maintenance.

Durir.g restoration, problems were identified which required corrective maintenance including replacing the anti-rotation stem key and repacking HV-50-1F045, repairing HV-49-1F031 and venting FT-49-lN003.

RCIC was declared operable follow-ing satisfactory completion of ST-6-049-230-1, RCIC Pump, Valve and Flow test on August 19.

On August 20, reactor power was reduced to 75.7% to suppott, control rod SCRAM time testing.

Following satisfactory completion of testing, reactor power was returned to 87% of rated thermal power.

On August 22, reactor power was reduced to 81.5% due to an increase in offgas activity.

Reactor power was maintained at 2700 MWTH (82%) through the remainder of this operating period per Reactor Engineering's direction.
