?!ay 12,1988 Docket No. 50-267 Mr. M. W. Friend 4518 Utica Street Denver, Colorado 80212
Dear Mr. Friend:
This is a follow-up to your letter dated April 25, 1987, expressing concern over potential difficulty of plant personnel hearing public address system announcements concerning fire alams or other emergencies at the Fort St. Vrain Nuclear Generating Station (FSV). As you know, the plant experienced an actual fire on October 2-3, 1987. However, our investigation of the event, documented in Inspection Report No: 50-267/87-26 dated October 29, 1987, did not reveal any further difficulty in plant personnel hearing public address systen announcements.
Additionally, the NRC resident inspectors who are onsite and conduct regular plant tours, are not aware of any marked deficiency in the performance of the publicaddress(Gaitonics) system.
If you have any further questions on this matter, please call the NRC Project Manager for FSV, Ken Heitner, at (301) 492-1333.
