Enclosed are copies of the NRC staff Environn<ntal Assessrent prepared in i

connection with the application dated November 17, 1987, filed in these 1

proceedings, for authority to construct and operate a facility for the purpose of enriching stable isotopes at Facility.1 CPDF and to construct a facility 1

for the same purpose at Facility.2 Oliver Springs. Copies of the Notices of

!ssuance and Finding of No Significant Impact, which have been forwarded to i

the Office of the Federal Register for publication, and "Environmental Assessment Relat.ed to the Proposed Construction and Operation of the AIChem!E j

Facility 1 CPDF," and "Environmental Assessment Related to the Proposed Construction of Alchem!E Facility.2 Oliver Springs " are also enclosed.

, l With respect to the Staff's Safety Evaluation Report, as ! advised l

in my letter to the Board of September 1, 1988, the financial qualification l

review is not yet c 7 plete.

The Staff is unable to state at this tire when that review will be completed.

However, the Staff presently does not anticipate that a significant amount of time will be required to complete the I

review.

If necessary, I will provide a further status report to the Board concerning this ratter.
