Dear Mr. Koval:
Enclosed is a copy of the January 1986 Discharge Monitoring Report for Permit No. PA 0047325. The following information details data and/or noncompliances for some of the permitted outfalls:
Outfall 070:
S-2 Sedimentation Pond There were no plant discharges to the S-2 pond during January. The oil and grease sample of natural site runoff from the pond was however inadvertently missed.
Plant sampling procedures will be reviewed and updated to correct this problem in the future.
Outfall 071:
Cooling Tower Blowdown The average total iron concentration limit of 6.8 mg/l was exceeded (10.2 mg/1). PP&L attributes this high concentration to high icvels of iron in the Susquehanna River.

Outfall 271: Waste Filter Bypass The TSS average monthly limit of 30 mg/1~and daily maximum of 100 mg/l were exceeded (1,820 mg/1). A waste filter has been installed to treat this waste stream. Both pumping problems and frozen lines have delayed operation of this system.
PP&L is correcting these probicas at this time.
