SUMMARY
OF SEPTEMBER 22,1998, MEETING WITH WESTINGHOUSE OWNERS GROUP (WOG) REGARDING RISK-INFORMED METHODS TO PIPING INSERVICE INSPECTION (WCAP-14572, REV 1)
On September 22,1998, a public meeting was held at the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission's (NRC's) offices in Rockville, Maryland, between members of the WOG, Westinghouse, and NRC staff. Attachment i lists attendees at the meeting.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the open items related to risk-informed methods to piping inservice inspections. The list of open items was sent to WOG before the meeting via a letter from Peter Wen (NRC) to Andrew Drake (WOG), dated September 2,1908 and is available in the public document room (Accession Number 9809080033.)
The focus of the meeting was to review all outstanding issues, mainly in the area of potential failure of piping, consequences of failure, and risk impact of changes in the ISI program. In the meeting, Westinghouse provided draft responses to the staff open items for discussion. The status and schedule for the closure of the issues were also discussed. All staff issues were closed or technically resolved and there are no remaining open issues for which a technical resolution has not been achieved. The staff and WOG agreed on the changes to be made on the Westinghouse responses.
At the conclusion of the meeting, WOG agreed to provide summary responses to the questions listed as discussed during the meeting. By letter dated September 30,1998, the WOG submitted a redline and strikeout version of the revised responses to reflect the change to the draft responses (Attachment 2).
