The following information is submitted in accordance with the Federal Regulation requirement that an annual report on the operation of our reactor facility be submitted to the Nuclear Regulatory Commissions (1) There have been no changes in our facility design.

(2) The reactor did not operate during the reporting period, therefore, 0 watt-hours of energy were produced.

(3) There were no scrams.

(4) No major maintenance was performed during the reporting period.

(5) The amendment to mothball the reactor was received. The reactor was previously defueled, therefore, there was no change to reactor operation procedures.

(6) No radioactive effluents were released or discharged to the environment beyond our effective control.

(7) No environmental surveys were performed outside our facility.

l (8) There were no unusually high radiation exposures to the facility personnel or laboratory visitors. All radiation contamination surveys conducted by the University's Radiation Safety Office were within regulatory limits.

(9) Dr. Craig M. Jensen's Reactor Director's license will lapse on May 30, 1988.

He will no longer be affiliated with the University after July 31, 1988.

The fuel was shipped from the reactor site to Martin Marietta Energy Systems on April 29. 1988. The license R-53 for possession of fuel should therefore be discontinued. All requirements for security are being discontinued at this time. The rest of the reactor facility is being turned over to the University Radiation Safety Office and will continue to be used for the 4 storage of radioactive material under the University Broad form licence. g\
