SUBJECT:

LICENSE SNM-778, DOCKET NO.70-824 As part of NRC Confirmatory Closecut Survey activities at your facility, a one liter soil sample spiked with radionuclides will be sent to your facility for analysis.

This sample is to be analyzed in accordance with your approved procedures for analysis of radionuclides in soil samples.

The spiked samples, with instructions, will be sent under separate cover from the Department of Energy's Radiological and Environmental Sciences Laboratory within approximately two weeks.

We request the analyses to be completed as soon as practicable, but no later than 30 days f rom the receipt of the samples.

Results should be sent to this office (ATTN:

Chief, Radiological Ef fluents and Chemistry Section) within 15 days af ter completion of the analysis.

Our evaluation of your results will be discussed with your staff following our review.
