Special Report of Inoperable Seismic Honitor System Due to Maintenance Gentlemen:

On July 22, 1988 with the reactor defueled the Seismic Monitoring System accelerometers vere removed for calibration. However, the accelerometers could not be calibrated to acceptable standards. Since these accelerometers are obsolete, spare parts and direct rcplacements are not available. Subsequently, it was decided to replace the accelerometers with a new type under plant modification number 88-0060. Due to priority conflicts in the outage schedule, the modification was not implemented prior to August 21, 1988. This report is being submitted in accordance with Technical Specification 3.3.3.3 because the seismic monitoring system has been inoperable for more than 30 days.

This modification is scheduled for completion by September 15, 1988. This vill return the seismic monitor system to an operable status.
