Dear Sir:
On January 22, 1986, Transamerica Delaval reported a potential defect with a jacket water pump impeller under the requirements of 10CFR21.
It was reported at that time that the three (3) impellers in question had been located at Georgia Power Vogtle Plant.
Since that time, however, we were advised that only two (2) impellers could be located at the Vogtle site.
This was recently confirmed in a February 11, 1986 letter from Georgia Power.
A further investigation was initiated into the whereabouts of the thrid impeller.
This investigrtion was completed on February 18, 1986 with the impeller located in one of our remote warehousing facilities.
Instructions have been given to destroy this piece at the warehouse location.
The first impeller was of course destroyed at Vogtle during engine operation.
We have requested Georgia Power to return the second impeller to us; upon receipt at our plant we will scrap it.
This activity will complete our corrective action for this item.
Very truly yours, D,
.y.
