ISSUANCE OF AMENDMENT NO. 44 TO FACILITY LICENSE NO. R GENERAL ATOMICS (TAC NO. MA3304)

Dear Dr. Asmussen:

The Commission has issued enclosed Amendment No. 44 to Facility License No. R-67 for the General Atomics Mark F Research Reactor. The amendment consists of changes to the Technical Specifications (TSs) in response to your submittal of July 16,1998.

The amendment replaces the Criticality Safeguards Committee with the Criticality and Radiation Safety Committee, decreases the frequency of audits from quarterly to annually, allows the Physicist-in-Charge to make temporary changes to procedures, and makes other changes to the Administrative Requirements section of the TSs commensurate with a facility in possession-only status.
