SUBJECT:
REPLY TO NOTICE OF VIOLATION I have received a Notice of Violation dated August 9,
- 1988, which alleges my violation of Administrative Procedure A-7 while on duty as a shift ' superintendent at the Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station.
You have imposed a civil penalty in the amount of
$1,000.00, and I enclote my check for payment in full.
In my capacity as a shift superintendent, I was responsible for the overall conduct of the operators on my shift.
Prior to the Shutdown order, on occasion I read non-technical material, and sat in my office with my feet up.
I observed my control room operators doing the same thing.
I realize that this was not in strict compliance with Procedure A-7, which requires licensed operators to be attentive to the controls at all times.
I am now retired from the Peach Bottom facility.
As the man in charge, I realize that I was responsible for everything that occurred on the shift, and that I had an obligation to set the standards of behavior.
Any violation of Procedure A-7 falls on me.
By payment of the irnposed penalty, I recogni::e this.
