Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station, Units 2 and 3 1998 Emergency Preparedness Exercise Scenario

Dear Sir / Madam:

This letter submits the scenario information for the Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station (PBAPS), Units 2 and 3,1998 Emergency Preparedness Exercise. This scenario information is being submitted 60 days prior to the scheduled November 17,1998, exercise in accordance with the guidance provided in an NRC letter dated August 9,1989, regarding the submittal of

" Emergency Exercise Objectives and Scenario Guidelines." This exercise is a biennial full participation exercise which involves participation from offsite emergency response agencies.

The attached scenario package provides the scenario objectives, schedules, exercise rules, and controller contingency end simulator information. This package also contains data relating to plant conditions, radiation levels and release rates, and samples of the data to be presented.

The attached scenario information is confidentialin nature and is not for public disclosure. The August 9,1989, letter identifies which individuals should receive copies of the exercise scenario information. However, based on discussions with NRC Region I representatives conceming the submittal of exercise objective and scenario information, the scenario package for ths PBAPS 1998 Emergency Preparedness Exercise will only be distributed to those individuals involved in evaluating this exercise.
