STAFF REQUIREMENTS - BRIEFING BY CTOR VENDORS OWNERS GROUPS,2:00 P.M., TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 15, 1998, COMMISSIONERS' CONFERENCE ROOM, ONE WHITE FLINT NORTH, ROCKVILLE, MARYLAND (OPEN TO PUBLIC ATTENDANCE)

The Commission was briefed by members of the Reactor Vendors Owners Groups and the NRC l

l staff. The Commission encouraged the staff and industry representatives to continue to focus on the following actions: (1) act promptly on safety issues, including generic design questions; (2) study and resolve equipment aging issues; and, (3) pursue risk-informed initiatives. There were no Lpecific requirements identified for staff action.

The Commission also encoucages the staff to work with each Owners Group to identify the higheti triority regulatory icsue that the respective Owners Group would like to see resolved at this timv.
