Gentlemen:
This letter is being submitted to provide additional information regarding Toledo Edison's License Amendment Request (LAR) of June 17, 1985 (Serial No. 1159). This LAR concerned Tech Spec 3.7.1.1 (Main Steam Safety Valves) and teg;ested tha' the action for Tich Spec 3.7.1.1 be changed to require a shutdevn to Mode 4 (Hot Shutdovn) rather than Mode 5 (Cold shutdovn) since the applicability of operable Pain Steam Safety Valves only applies in Modes 1 through 3.
On August 11, 1988, the BVvG Technical Specification Committee formally l
designated the Davis-Besse Nuclear Paver Station as the lead BV0G plant in pursuing the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's approval of this changs.
Therefore Toledo Edison requests that the NRC Staff process this change as a t
generic BV0G plant T chnical Specification improvement item.
