m NOTICE OF VIOLATION Northeast Nuclear Energy Company Docket Nos. 50-245 Millstone Nuclear Power Station 50-336 Units I and 2 License Nos. DRP-21 DRP-65 EA 86-08 On November 13-20, 1985, an NRC inspection was conducted to review the cir-cumstances associated with a violation of physical protection requirements involving the undetected introduction of a firearm to the site protected area.
In accordance with the " General Statement of Policy and Procedures for NRC Enforcement Actions," 10 CFR Part 2, Appendix C (1985), the violation is set forth below:

Contrary to the above, on November 13, 1985, a vehicle entered the pro-tected area without a proper search for items that could be used for sabotage purposes in that a locked briefcase in the vehicle was not discovered or searched prior to entry. As a result, a.38 caliber I
handgun in the briefcase was brought into the site protected area.

Pursuant to the provisions of 10 CFR 2.201, Northeast Nuclear Energy Company is hereby required to submit to this office within thirty days of the date of the j
letter which transmitted this Notice, a written statement or explanation in reply, including for each violation:
(1) the reason for the violation if admitted; (2) the corrective steps which have been taken and the results l
achieved; (3) corrective steps which will be taken to avoid further violations; and (4) the date when full compliance will be achieved. Where good cause is shown, consideration will be given to extending this response time.
